I was thinking about this in relationships to colleagues working together. Checking people's motivation and understanding what their goals are is something we should all do. We hire people for their brains, but their behavior with others is the key to organizational success.
I believe greed is a learned behavior that can be changed, it isn't something in a person's DNA. By carefully showing them that more can be gained by sharing knowledge and resources than hoarding it, everyone wins.
